The Wanderers look to return to winning ways during New Years Day’s Double Header, hosting Melbourne City at ANZ Stadium in Round 10 Hyundai A-League action.

Having already defeated Warren Joyce’s men in the FFA Cup Quarter-Final at AAMI Park, Markus Babbel knows what it will take to back it up with another result.

This time, the Wanderers will have the home ground advantage at ANZ Stadium and will look to embrace the chance to swing momentum into his side to chase for a spot in the top 6 after a 2-2 draw away to Adelaide United last week.

After finding the net against Sydney FC and Adelaide United, Oriol Riera now has two goals in as many games, while Bruce Kamau is maturing into a reliable and lethal forward with one goal and two assists.

With the ‘Summer of Heroes’ upon the Hyundai A-League, January will be an action packed month for the Wanderers hosting 5 home games all at ANZ Stadium, up until our round 17 fixture against the Newcastle Jets.

Key Opta stats

  • Melbourne City have won only three of their last 11 meetings against Western Sydney Wanderers, but will be looking to go back-to-back following their 3-0 win in March.
