Western Sydney local Brendan Hamill says the Wanderers will be drawing on the heartache of the last Sydney Derby for extra motivation when the two sides square off at Allianz Stadium on Saturday.
Chipping Norton junior Hamill says revenge for the loss on 8 October will be firmly on the mind this week.
“We don’t forget what happened in Round 1. We will never forget that and we’ll be looking to make amends,” said Hamill.
“We don’t let it bug us but we will keep it in the back of the memory bank.
“It’ll definitely be on our minds this week.”
With the Sky Blues having outlined their desires to become the next ‘Invincibles’, Hamill says his side just needs to focus on themselves.
“I don’t really take too much notice on what they say. They’ve got pretty good records so that speaks for itself.
“We have to go out there though with a clear mind and do what we can tactically and physically to get a good result.”
“We’re sticking together, working hard and we believe things will change.”
Having already played in six Sydney Derbies, Hamill knows just how special a fixture it is.
“Not that any other games mean anything less but there’s something special about a Derby that give you that extra buzz.
“We’re looking forward to it.”
