Ins & Outs: City v Wanderers

Dean Heffernan has named his extended squad for today’s Westfield W-League Semi Final against Melbourne City at ABD Stadium.

It is the moment that has been long time coming and there could be more history awaiting the record-breaking Wanderers Westfield W-League side in today’s Semi Final against Melbourne City at ABD Stadium in Broadmeadows.

After seven seasons of despair, the Red & Black will finally get their first taste of finals football in what looms as a cracking contest against the benchmark team of the national competition.

Unbeaten City, having dropped just two points (from a draw) during the 12-game regular season, will go in as raging favourites not just to win this match but to go on and add another championship to their mantle.

But, Dean Heffernan’s superbly coached Red & Black will approach the contest with every confidence after a season of many firsts that saw them emerge as a force with which to be reckoned.

Having come from wooden-spooners last season to the Semi Finals in the space of 12 months, the  Wanderers will be ready to play the game of their lives.

At stake is a spot in the Grand Final and a shot at their first-ever piece of silverware.
