Khamis returned back to the club this season after a recent stint at Canberra United and is one of a handful of senior players in the Wanderers squad this season.

With the dawn of a new Westfield W-League season soon upon us, Khamis expects there to be plenty of fresh faces in the competition this season.

“I’ve got another opportunity with the Wanderers to come back to the West, come back home,” said Khamis.

“Heff (head coach Dean Heffernan) and the rest of the coaching staff have been looking after me.

“We have a different and good group of players, a young team, a mixture of experience and youth but there’s some good young talent coming through.

“There will be a few debutants across the whole league which will be exciting for the country and for the league.”

The Red & Black will now open their season against their cross-city rivals Sydney FC and when it comes to Derby Day, Khamis knows exactly what to expect.

“It doesn’t matter which side I’m on, as I’ve been in a few derbies,” said Khamis.

“It’s probably my favourite game of the season and the hype about it, the hype is getting bigger and bigger each year.

“I’ve had a few and they’re never different and I’m pretty excited.

“It’s a Derby, you want to stamp your ground and you want to show them who’s City it is. It’s one of my favourite games in the season.”
