Liberty A-League match relocated due to ongoing flood issues in NSW

The A-Leagues can announce that due to the ongoing flood situation in New South Wales, the scheduled Liberty A-League match between the Western Sydney Wanderers and Wellington Phoenix has been moved to Wanderers Park.

Originally confirmed as set to take place at CommBank Stadium, an increase in flood waters in the area around the venue has resulted in further flooding of the drainage system at the venue this morning and the pitch has been unable to drain of excess water.

As a result, for the safety of all players, the match has been relocated to Wanderers Football Park, at the original kick off time of 635pm AEDT tonight. However this new venue will allow for spectators to attend the match.

The decision to relocate the match was made with the aim of ensuring the best schedule possible for both teams, especially with Wellington Phoenix due to return home to New Zealand following the conclusion of round 14.

Due to moving the match, despite the best efforts of all our partners including 10 ViacomCBS and our production partner, the match will not be broadcast on Paramount+ as the current flooding and turnaround in timing make it impossible to deliver the live stream. Highlights will be made available after the match.

Having spent nearly five months on the road for the 2021/2022 season, it is a high priority of the A-Leagues to ensure that further disruption to their travel schedule is kept to a minimum, as the Phoenix are eager to return to their families after an unprecedented debut in the Liberty A-League.
