Goalkeeper Daniel Margush on the club’s first few weeks of pre-season and striving for success in 2021/22.

The 23-year-old was a shining light in the Wanderers campaign last season and has been putting in the work over the last two weeks of the Red & Black’s pre-season preparations.

Margush is set to play in his second season at the club and has welcomed some of the new recruits with open arms.

“It’s a good group of boys. I think a lot of people know each other already which is good for team cohesion,” explained Margush.

“The new boys have good personalities and a good work ethic, so I think we’ll work well together this season.”

After a frustrating finish to his first season with the club, Margush is desperate to push himself and his teammates to the next level to ensure they secure a place in the Finals Series.

ā€œWe worked our backsides off last year to make that happen (Finals) and it didnā€™t, so this year weā€™re gonna work even harder,ā€ said Margush.

ā€œSo it really starts now from pre-season, putting in a lot of ground-work and striving to achieve that.ā€

The talented shot-stopper featured in every match for the club last season and has found a home for himself at the Red & Black after stints at Perth Glory and Adelaide United saw him have limited game time.

Using the experiences of last season, Margush is determined to continue to grow and develop at the club.

“It’s good to have those 26 games under my belt, I felt really good playing them,” said Margush.

“The boys, the Gaffa (head coach Carl Robinson) and all the coaching staff made me feel really comfortable going out there and playing to the best of my abilities.

“So I’ll build on that experience and confidence heading into next season and hopefully I can do myself justice next season as well.”
