Goalkeeper Daniel Margush on the result against Brisbane and his own development this season.
Though didn’t go the Wanderers way on Easter Saturday, there were many positives to take from the match including the individual performance from young goalkeeper Daniel Margush.
Margush, who joined the Wanderers this season, has solidified his place as the club’s number one after a number of impressive performances.
The 23-year-old joined the club this season from a recent stint with Perth Glory after spending the three previous seasons at Adelaide United where he made only seven appearances.
Having not taken a step back since his club debut in Round 1, Margush has been instrumental in the Wanderers defence, making the most saves of any A-League goalkeeper this season.
Saturday night’s clash against Brisbane saw Margush make seven saves with only two goalkeepers making more in an A-League game, Vedran Janjetovic in 2017 and former Wanderer Daniel Lopar in 2019.
Margush was constantly called into action in the Wanderers clash against Brisbane on Saturday night and kept the Roar relatively at bay.
“It was obviously disappointing to throw away a win like that against Brisbane,” said Margush.
“I think in the first half we played some really good football, when we were passing the ball around we looked really dangerous.
“Second half, we started on the back foot and the conditions weren’t easy going into the wind, making things a bit more difficult for us.”
Margush and the Wanderers have only had one day to prepare for the clash against the Mariners with focus set on assessing their recent result and mentality.
“I think we started very brightly, but then again the second half for whatever reason, we will have to assess the reason we looked a bit off it,” said Margush.
The agile goalkeeper will no doubt be put to the test in tonight’s fixture against the Mariners thanks to Matt Simon and Alou Koulbut going off some of his recent performances, we’re set for some more Margush magic.
