The Wanderers will bring their 2026 NPL Men’s NSW campaign to a close on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Valentine Sports Park to face Blacktown City.
With one game remaining, the Red & Black will be determined to finish the season on a positive note and take three points away from one of the competition’s traditionally difficult venues.
It has been an up-and-down final stretch of the campaign for the Wanderers, who head into Sunday searching for a return to winning ways after a tough trip to Macedonia Park last weekend.
While the result went against them against Wollongong Wolves, there were still opportunities for the Wanderers to change the complexion of the contest. Awan Lual was denied when through on goal, while the side continued to push forward looking for a way back into the match.
Lual’s performances in front of goal have been one of the major positives to come out of the season. The striker has enjoyed a prolific campaign leading the Wanderers attack and will have one final opportunity to add to his tally on Sunday.
Blacktown will have similar intentions heading into their final appearance of 2026.
They have endured their own difficult periods throughout the campaign but have proven capable of competing with the league’s stronger sides. They will be looking to make home advantage count and ensure they finish their season with a victory.
There should be no shortage of attacking intent between the sides either, particularly after their first meeting of the season produced six goals.
The Wanderers and Blacktown shared the points in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Wanderers Football Park, with both teams showing their ability to create chances and punish mistakes.
With neither side having finals football to look forward to, Sunday is about finishing the campaign the right way. A victory would provide the Wanderers with a strong conclusion to 2026 and give the group something to build from heading into the off-season.
