It’s a top-of-the-table clash in NSW NPL 2 this weekend when Western Sydney Wanderers travel to face NWS Spirit on Saturday night.
Western Sydney leapfrogged Spirit last weekend with a 2-1 win over Blacktown Spartans while their opponents fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of SD Raiders.
It’s been a season to remember so far for the Red & Black with seven wins in 10 outings but they’ll face perhaps their greatest test against Spirit at Christie Park.
Spirit finished second last year and have been in fine form again this campaign. Daniel Konestabo looms as the danger man with six goals to his name.
Speaking of danger men and Ali Auglah again found himself on the scoresheet last week to notch his 10th goal for the season and establish himself atop the scorers’ list.
Western Sydney’s wide men have flown under the radar but their contributions were fully on show against Spartans. Issac Hovar and Jarrod Carlucio in particular caused havoc down the flanks and put the likes of Auglah and Alessandro Lopane in dangerous positions.
Wanderers will be without goalkeeper Noah James after his ankle injury last week however with plenty of rotation in the shot-stopper department this year, it won’t be as much of a disruption as it could have been.
The match kicks off at 7:00pm at Christie Park. Make sure you keep an eye on Twitter for match updates.
