NPL 2 Preview: Wanderers v Central Coast

NPL 2 Preview: Wanderers v Central Coast

The Western Sydney Wanderers will be hoping to reclaim top spot on the NSW NPL 2 ladder when they host Central Coast Mariners on Saturday.

The Round 12 match-up at Wanderers Football Park comes off the back of Wanderers’ 3-3 draw with NWS Spirit last Saturday.

Goals from the usual suspects of Alessandro Lopane, Kosta Grozos and Reuben Awaritefe looked to have secured an away win but two late goals to Spirit meant the points were shared.

The Red & Black will look to bounce back when they host the Mariners in a re-match of their Round 1 fixture.

The Gosford side got the better of Wanderers that day by a score of 3-0 but Patrick Zwaanswijk’s men have improved greatly since March.

While not on the scoresheet last week, Ali Auglah remains a threat to any opposition defence and the Wanderers midfield are always capable of a scoreboard contribution as well.

New member of the team Aiden Mostofi was handed his first appearance against Spirit and slotted in well on the flank.

After a promising start to the season the Mariners have dropped off to sit sixth on the ladder but only one point off a finals spot.

You can watch this game live on NPL TV with kick-off at 1pm or keep an eye on Twitter for match updates.
