NPL 2 Preview: Western Sydney Wanderers v St George City FA

NPL

Western Sydney Wanderers will be looking to continue their red-hot form when they face St. George City FA on Saturday night.

Wanderers will travel to Poulton Park for their Round 7 encounter off the back of four straight wins and sit in second position on the ladder.

Patrick Zwaanswijk’s side have impressed upon their return to the NSW NPL 2 competition and despite a slow start have well and truly hit their straps.

Last week’s result, a thrilling 3-2 win over Bonnyrigg White Eagles, was achieved despite Western playing with 10-men for 30 minutes after Nectarios Triantis was shown a second yellow.

Goals to Alex Badolato, Lochlan Constable, and Ali Auglah sealed an impressive three points in a fixture where the lead changed several times, a far cry from the drubbings Wanderers had dished out in weeks previous.

Their opponents on Saturday night have also had a decent start to the season. City sit just inside the finals positions in fifth but only two points behind Western Sydney.

The Red & Black will need to keep an eye on City’s Jason Romero who has so far notched five goals to his name. That task has been made a little more difficult with Triantis, a staple of Wanderers’ backline this season, ruled out through his one-game suspension.

The match-up kicks off at 6:00pm at Poulton Park. Make sure you keep an eye on Twitter for match updates.
