The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL Women’s side hit the road on Sunday afternoon as they take on Gladesville Ravens at Christie Park, looking to continue their push towards the top of the NPL NSW Women’s ladder.
The Red & Black return to action after coming from behind to claim a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Hills United before last weekend’s scheduled fixture was postponed.
Currently sitting inside the top four, the Wanderers know another victory will keep the pressure on the teams above them as the race for the Premiership enters its defining weeks. Every point is becoming increasingly valuable, and the Red & Black will be eager to make another statement away from home.
Gladesville Ravens will be looking to bounce back after another difficult result last weekend. Despite showing promising signs through the performances, the Ravens were unable to convert their chances into points and will be determined to respond on home soil.
The Wanderers claimed a thrilling 4-3 victory when these sides met earlier this season in an entertaining contest at Wanderers Football Park and will be aiming to complete the season sweep on Sunday.
The Key Decider: Maintaining Attacking Flow
The Red & Black have shown throughout the season that they’re at their best when they move the ball quickly through midfield and commit numbers forward. Their comeback win over Hills United highlighted the squad’s ability to create chances from multiple areas of the pitch, while Gladesville have found it difficult to keep opposition attacks quiet in recent weeks.
If the Wanderers can control possession, press with intensity and maintain the clinical edge they displayed in their last outing, they’ll give themselves every chance of returning from Christie Park with all three points.
Sunday’s clash presents another important test for the Wanderers’ young squad as the race towards the finals continues to heat up. While the pressure naturally increases at this stage of the season, the Red & Black have shown remarkable composure throughout the campaign, consistently rising to the occasion against quality opposition.
