Following today’s announcement by the Victorian Government of a 5-day Level 4 lockdown, APL Commissioner Greg O’Rourke today announced changes to the A-League and Westfield W-League fixtures.
“Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation in Victoria, we have taken the decision to halt any travel this weekend involving any Victorian-based teams. This extends to any teams that were scheduled to travel to Victoria.
“As such we have had to postpone the Westfield W-League fixture between Melbourne City FC and the Newcastle Jets and the A-League fixtures between Western United FC and Sydney FC and the Western Sydney Wanderers FC and Melbourne City FC.
The APL will continue to monitor the situation based on government and health advice before committing to reschedule matches,” concluded O’Rourke
In addition, following the announcement by the Western Australian Government to relax border restrictions with NSW, the Western Sydney Wanderers FC will host Perth Glory in Round 9 of the Westfield W-League at Marconi Stadium on Thursday 18 February 2021 (Kick-Off 7:10pm (AEDT)).
