Rue pens two-year extension

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed that Cushla Rue has re-signed on a two-year deal that will see her at the club until the end of the 2025/26 Liberty A-League season.

The versatile and fast-paced forward has been with the Wanderers since 2022 and has this season solidified her place in the starting squad.

Rue has made close to 30 appearances for the club and will be looking to build on what has been an impressive start to life in the Red & Black.

Head coach Robbie Hooker spoke about Cushla’s importance to the squad.

“Cushla is another young player who has done really well for the Wanderers this season. She has played in a number of different positions, and she is a quick learner and is able to quickly grasp the things we have asked of her,” said Hooker.

“She is a good person to have around the club and I’m really excited to be able to work with her for another two seasons.”

Rue said she loved the club and was eager to continue developing.

“This season I really wanted to work hard to secure another spot for the next few years here,” said Rue.

“I love the club and I love the environment. I really think it’s a place where I can develop and grow as a player.

“I love the Western Sydney Wanderers, it’s the club closest to my home. So that also means a lot to me as well.”
