Traore

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the signing of left-back Adama Traore until the end of the 2022/23 season.

The defender comes to the club after a recent two-season stint at A-League side Melbourne Victory where he made over 40 appearances.

The pacey left-back has amassed over 150 appearances in the domestic competition and has experience playing overseas at the likes of FC Basel, VitĆ³ria S.C., and Gƶztepe S.K.

Traore said he was excited to link up with his new teammates come the start of pre-season in July.

ā€œFirstly, I would like to say thank you to the Wanderers for giving me the opportunity and I am very excited to be joining them,ā€ said Traore.

ā€œI have always enjoyed playing against the Wanderers, they have fantastic facilities and passionate supporters that I look forward to playing in front of.

ā€œI hope that I can bring some experiences that others can learn from and I hope to learn as much as I can from everyone at this great club.

ā€œI really just want to play my best football for both the club and the supporters.ā€

Head coach Carl Robinson said Traore fits the profile of the Wanderers team.

ā€œAdama has great domestic and international experience, he knows the league and has fantastic leadership qualities,ā€ said Robinson.

ā€œAdama fits the profile of the characteristics of what I am looking for in the fullback position.

ā€œHe will also play an important role in guiding and assisting in our continual development of young defenders from the Wanderers Academy.ā€

The Western Sydney Wanderers will provide further squad updates in the coming weeks.
