Captain of the current USA Champions, Keelin Winters, has re-signed with the NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers for the Westfield W-League 2015/16 season.
The reigning WSW Player of the Season and Golden Boot will return to Western Sydney for her second season in Red & Black after she leads out Seattle Reign in the upcoming NWSL Final against FC Kansas on Friday 2 October.
Â
Joining the club last season as one of the highest-rated defensive midfielders in world football, Winters took the league by storm when she shifted to a more attacking position, scoring five goals in 11 matches and having a hand in many more.
Â
The 26-year-old joins Hannah Beard, Portland Thorns’ Kendall Johnson and Canada’s Carmelina Moscato as the Wanderers’ four visa signings.
Â
Winters’ return is a coup for head coach Norm Boardman whose squad is a healthy mix of talented youth and experienced campaigners.
Â
There are some new faces in the team including Australian representatives Ellie Carpenter, Eliza Ammendolia, Jada Whyman, Tara Pender and Teagan Micah while foundation players Linda O’Neill and Rachael Soutar will lace up for their fourth season in Red & Black.
