Wanderers Academy Youth Wrap: Mounties Wanderers

A wrap of last weekend’s Wanderers Academy youth results against Mounties Wanderers.

U13s
Match postponed

U14s
1-0 loss

A great week of training in the lead-up to the fixture against Mounties Wanderers and a great first half performance wasn’t enough for the Red & Black. Despite having a good share of possession, the Wanderers were lacking strength in their movements, execution and decision-making in the final third. A poorly organised defensive set-piece led to the only real opportunity for the opposition, who converted their one goal of the game. A few half-time changes saw an improved performance in the second-half and a late penalty was unfortunately not capitalised on.

U15s
4-3 win

It was a strong and resilient performance from the 15s who controlled the entire match from the outset. The effort and intensity was excellent and the game was capped off by a supberb 4-goal haul from Filip Dimovski and a couple of assists to Miguel Dipizio. There were also strong performances by Riley Hollingdale and Max Hately, while Edmund Haddad and Will Freney were the top performers in the midfield.

U16s
1-0 win

This week it was a different challenge for the U16s who were coming up against the side known for their physical presence. The Wanderers bounced back from last week’s result with a comfortable 1-0 win with the opposition registering one shot on target in the entire match. It was a pleasing result for the side who learnt from last week’s experience to come out with a clean sheet against a side who scored twelve goals in their last three games.

U18s
6-0 win

The U18s remained undefeated after two emphatic victories in a week against Southern Districts and Mounties Wanderers. The team performed collectively well and four goals from Jakov Malbasa, as well as goals from Alex Denmead and Jesper Webber reflected a perfect performance and a 6-0 win over Mounties.
