Wanderers to celebrate Harmony Day

The Western Sydney Wanderers will celebrate Harmony Day during our clash against Perth Glory at Pirtek Stadium on Sunday 23 March.

The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers will celebrate Sydney-s cultural diversity through Harmony Day, a day of respect and jubilation for all cultures, during our clash against Perth Glory at Pirtek Stadium on Sunday 23 March.

After Western Sydney-s successful celebration of Harmony Day last year we will be inviting 240 representatives from a variety of communities of Sydney-s West to rejoice in Australia-s cultural diversity through football.

Harmony Day is traditionally celebrated on the 21st of March each year and is designed to promote equality and cultural significance for all Australian-s through story-telling, the arts and sport.

With players from a variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds at the Western Sydney Wanderers and a celebrated diversity of fans, Harmony Day holds a special place in the heart of every Wanderer.

To kick-off the day-s activities our 240 Red and Black representatives will feature in a special ‘Harmony Day World Cup- where every individual is encouragd to respect and rejoice one another’s background and beliefs while uniting through their love of the world game.

Inside Pirtek Stadium our Harmony Day activities will continue with a special performance from girl-group Elem5nt prior to kick-off as well as a flag walk giving children the chance to bear their heritage proudly. The celebrations then carry-on into half-time with children from a variety of cultures featuring in our traditional half-time small sided games and skills activities.

After 90 minutes of chanting and support for our Western Sydney Wanderers everyone will be invited join in on our ‘Wander and Kick- [weather permitting] which sees fans take part in a friendly kick around on the field – celebrating their passion for football and rejoicing in the diverse cultures of other Wanderers fans.

Western Sydney-s Harmony Day events will also see selected first team players take part in the Parramatta City Council-s football Clinic on Friday 21 March (Harmony Day).
