The 2022 edition of the Schools Cup is expected to be bigger than ever with the Wanderers expanding the football competition to regional New South Wales.

The Regional Gala Days will be held in Bankstown (15 September), Bathurst (25 August), Blacktown (9 and 11 August), Canterbury (13 September), Granville (8 September), Hills (20 August), Nepean (26 July), North-West Sydney (16 and 23 August) and Southern Districts (20 September).

The Schools Cup caters for both primary and secondary schools, allowing teachers to bring students to a fun-filled gala day.

Schools can provide girls or boys teams to compete in the Regional Gala Days with the winners receiving an invitation to the Finals Series played in Term 4 at Wanderers Football Park.

Western Sydney Wanderers CEO Scott Hudson said he was delighted the Wanderers would be running the Cup tournament in 2022.

“After many years where school sport has been effected by the likes of COVID and even the recent weather, we are very excited to bring back and expand the Schools Cup in 2022,” said Hudson.

“We would like to thank ABAL Banking for their support of what we hope will be a successful tournament.”

Managing Director and CEO of ABAL Banking Joe Rizk said he was proud to support the Schools Cup.

“Arab Bank Australia (ABAL Banking) is very proud of its inaugural support of the Wanderers and in particular, the sponsorship of the Schools Cup 2022,” said Rizk.

“With every partnership we undertake, we try to ensure that the Youth are a key focus for us and teaming up with likeminded organisations such as the Wanderers makes this easy to achieve in the area of Sports.

“With the Schools Cup soon to get underway we are looking forward to watching the Youth in action and seeing the fruits of this partnership.

“Partnering with the Wanderers and our support of the Schools Cup 2022 centres on supporting, empowering and continuing to cultivate the ambitions, skills and talent of youth in our communities.”
