Wanderers sign Swedish striker Antonsson

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the signing of Marcus Antonsson for the next two A-Leagues seasons.

Antonsson joins the club from Saudi Premier League side Al Adalah where he has featured in 16 matches and scored six goals this season.

Prior to his spell in Asia, Antonsson was a familiar face in the top-flight of Sweden’s Allsvenskan where he played for clubs including Halmstad, Malmo and Kalmar for 12 seasons.

The classy striker has also played in the United Kingdom in League One and the Championship for Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers.

Antonsson has over 370 professional matches to his name and has experience playing on the world’s biggest stage with four European Champions League and 21 Europa League matches on his resume.

With close to 100 goals scored in his career, Antonsson has a reputation for being clinical and consistent in the front-third and marks head coach Marko Rudan’s fifth signing of the 2023/24 A-Leagues season.
