Western Sydney Wanderers FC have tonight agreed to a club-record transfer fee for forward Nicolas Milanovic, who will depart immediately to join Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen FC.
The Wanderers are immensely proud of Milanovic’s journey and contribution since returning to his hometown club in February 2023.
A lifelong Wanderers fan, Milanovic has not only fulfilled his childhood dream of representing the Red & Black but has also left a lasting mark on the club.
A standout 2024/25 season saw Milanovic claim the Wanderers Golden Boot and play a key role in the club’s record-breaking goal tally, while his consistent excellence was recognised with a suite of accolades including the Wanderers Medal for Player of the Year, Media Player of the Year, and Members Player of the Year across the past two and a half seasons.

Milanovic’s development and achievements reflect both his dedication and the club’s ongoing commitment to nurturing local talent.
While his departure represents a major transition, the Wanderers are delighted to see him embark on the next chapter of his professional journey abroad.
Western Sydney Wanderers CEO Scott Hudson said he was proud to see Milanovic seize this new opportunity in his career.
“We are incredibly proud of Nicolas and everything he has achieved during his time with the Wanderers. His journey from local fan to one of the league’s standout performers is a testament to his character, commitment but most of all, his talent,” said Hudson.
“At the Wanderers, we are committed to developing players who can make an impact not just in the A-Leagues, but on the global stage. Nicolas is a shining example of that vision, and we’re excited to see him embrace this new challenge with Aberdeen.
“Nicolas will always be part of the Wanderers family. He has left a legacy at our club, and we look forward to welcoming him back whenever he returns home.”

Head coach Alen Stajcic spoke highly of Milanovic’s impact on the club.
“Nicolas has had an outstanding return to his boyhood club. During the last two and a half seasons he has demonstrated not only his incredible talents, but a growth and maturity that has allowed him to become a consistent performer and integral part of the rise of the team throughout 2025,” said Stajcic.
“Nicolas has left a great mark on the football club and helped build a renewed culture for success. We wish him all the best and will follow his career with anticipation.”
Nicolas expressed his gratitude to the club and the fans.
“This club has changed my life. Thank you to my teammates, the coaching staff, the backroom staff and most importantly, the passionate Wanderers members and fans – your support has meant the world to me,” said Milanovic.
“As I begin this new chapter and take on the challenge of playing in Europe, I know I wouldn’t be here without the belief and opportunity I was given at my hometown club.
“The Red & Black will always be part of me, and one day I will be back.”
This transfer is subject to a pre-contract agreement and pending visa approval.
