The pacey winger, who played a more attacking role against Brisbane Roar, was more than upbeat with how her side took it up to one of the top teams in the competition.
“Although not the scoreline we would have hoped for, I believe the way we played was a 100% improvement on how we played against Sydney in round one,” said Halloway.
“We dominated large portions of Sunday’s match and we now just need to find the back of the net”.
The exciting attacking combination of Halloway, Georgia Yeoman-Dale, Servet Uzunlar and Lo’eau LaBonta was a highlight for a large number of Wanderers fans who turned up on a warm spring afternoon at Marconi Stadium.
The way the midfield quartet linked up with the defensive duo of Sydney Miramontez and Caitlin Cooper was brilliant to watch, with numerous attacking forays putting Brisbane on the back foot for a large part of the game.
Halloway paid tribute to the enthusiasm and commitment of her team, whom she believes deserved to come away with much more from the game.
“The attitude of the girls was amazing, we pushed for the full 90 and we were very unlucky to come away without at least a point.”
Halloway has also given praise to Wanderers Westfield W-League head coach Dan Barrett who she believes is the man to take the Red & Black to the next level.
“Dan has been fantastic, he is a great coach and player-manager,” explained Erica.
“We have all bought in on his philosophy, and his positive energy and nature has rubbed off on all of us.
“Although results haven’t been in our favour, Dan has made sure our heads have not dropped. We are a good football team and the results will come.
“Dan has always said that we should be the team that everyone hates coming up against. He picked his squad based on this and we now need to prove to him and ourselves that we can match it with anyone. I have complete faith, we will make finals this year.”
Whilst the Wander women have enjoyed a weekend off from playing due to the FIFA International Break, Halloway is adamant the extra time to prepare will help them build on their previous performances when they take on Perth Glory at Dorrien Gardens this Saturday.
“It’s a weekend off from competitive matches, but it wasn’t a weekend off for the ladies.
“We will still be at the club, training hard as we have done all preseason, and focusing on our match away to Perth this weekend.”
