The Western Sydney Wanderers will be looking to make it three wins from their opening four games against Newcastle Jets on Saturday night at Valentine Sports Park.
The last time the Wanderers Foxtel Y-League side played Newcastle was back in January when an Abraham Majok hat-trick gave the Red & Black a 3-0 victory.
Confidence will be high for the Wanderers after an excellent performance in Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Sydney FC.
However, Newcastle are themselves coming off a 2-0 victory over Canberra United and have also won two of their opening three games.
For the Wanderers, Marley Peterson will be looking to build on a solid performance after getting the only goal in last week’s derby win.
The 19-year-old forward signed for the Wanderers in June after previously playing for Manly United and has shown an ability to find the back of the net, scoring six goals in 13 games for our NPL 2 side.
Daniel Wilmering is another player worth keeping an eye on. Wilmering has been with the Wanderers Academy since 2016 and is able to play as a left-back or central midfielder.
Despite being only 17-years-old, Wilmering has experienced Championship success in each of his three years with the club.
Wilming has played in the Wanderers’ NPL 2 U18 Grand Final victories in 2016 and 2017 before being part of this year’s NPL 2 U20 Grand Final winning team.
Entry to this Saturday’s game is FREE for all Wanderers members.
