It’s been a rollercoaster season for the Jets—starting with just one win from their opening six matches, before hitting a purple patch with a seven-game unbeaten run through February and March that reignited their finals hopes.
Head coach Robbie Stanton has steered the side through challenging moments but will depart the club at season’s end, as recently confirmed.
Despite the ups and downs, the Jets still pose a threat. Eli Adams has been in fine form with nine goals to his name, while midseason arrival Kota Mizunuma has made a significant impact since joining.
However, history hasn’t been kind to them in this fixture. The Jets haven’t beaten the Wanderers since early 2022—Western Sydney have won four of the last seven meetings, with the remaining three ending in draws.
All three of those draws came at McDonald Jones Stadium, including a dramatic 2-2 clash early last season where the Wanderers came from two goals down to snatch a point.
While the Wanderers haven’t claimed victory at the venue since 2017, they’ll be confident of breaking that streak this time around—with Finals football within reach and plenty still to play for.
