They have had to bide their time, but they will host the team nicknamed the Black Knights on Sunday afternoon in an important clash for both sides.

The Wanderers are looking to get back to winning ways after a comeback against the Mariners fell short last Friday.

They unfortunately fell behind 2-0 before James Temelkovski’s first ever professional goal in the 86th minute set up a chaotic finish.

The Wanderers gained momentum from the goal and could have easily scored at least a goal in frantic circumstances.

Auckland, coached by Steve Corica, has faced some inconsistency recently due to travel and a congested schedule. However, they returned to form with a dominant 3-0 win over Melbourne City, reclaiming second place on the ladder.

Known as the best defensive side in the A-League, they are anchored by Kiwi international Alex Paulsen and captain Hiroki Sakai, compensating for a less potent attack with only nine goals scored—10 fewer than the Wanderers.

This match will be a crucial test for the Wanderers’ attack as they push for a finals spot. While it’s their first league meeting, the Wanderers won a pre-season match 4-2.
