The A-Leagues can confirm further changes to the Isuzu UTE A-League fixture, with three round 10 matches to be postponed due to ongoing challenges with COVID-19.
Following confirmation of a number of positive cases within the Wellington Phoenix men’s football department last week, the scheduled match due to be held on Saturday 15 January between Perth Glory FC and Wellington Phoenix has been postponed. Perth Glory will remain in Western Australia for another week.
Further to last week’s unavailability of Western United FC and Macarthur FC and noting they were scheduled to play each other on Friday 14 January, this match is also postponed as both teams return to conditioning post Covid impacts. We are pleased to confirm that both teams have recommenced training and are on track to return to play in round 11.
Finally, the match between the Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne Victory at Commbank Stadium scheduled to be held on Sunday 16 January, has been postponed as a result of the positive COVID-19 cases within Melbourne Victory.
These positive cases were reported on 10 and 11 January following either RAT or PCR testing.
Protocols put in place by the A-Leagues continue to be effective for screening and subsequent RAT or PCR testing in detecting the virus and ensuring immediate isolation. We continue to work closely with each government health department to implement the relevant state health directives in clubs where COVID cases are present.
Our primary concern is for the health, wellbeing and safety of all players, staff and their families. We will continue to work with all clubs to confirm a new schedule for all postponed matches as soon as possible.
