On Wednesday, 27 April 2022, the independent Match Review Panel (MRP) – consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Alan Contini and Adam D’Apuzzo – convened to consider an incident outlined below arising in the Isuzu UTE A-League Men.
The MRP considered an incident involving Mark Rudan (Rudan) of Western Sydney Wanderers FC in or around the 91st minute of Western Sydney Wanderers FC’s A-League Men match against Wellington Phoenix FC on Sunday, 24 April 2022.
In accordance with the A-League Disciplinary Regulations (the Regulations), the MRP has the authority to consider the incident as Rudan was issued with a direct Red Card by the Referee.
The MRP determined that Rudan had committed the offence of the “Use of offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures against a Match Official”.
The MRP confirmed that Rudan will serve a suspension of one (1) match, being the minimum sanction for the offence.
