The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers FC continue to build links with the western Sydney football community, with the new boys visiting local Premier League side Parklea SFC.

Wanderers FC stars Aaron Mooy and Labinot Haliti were able to meet 500 fans and give some young footballers the chance to meet their new heroes.

Parklea SFC president Mik Carraro said the event was a great success and might just have won Wanderers FC a few more fans.

“It was a brilliant day,” Carraro said. “It was great for the guys to come along and put a few names to the jersey that will be representing our region.

“We-re definitely going to get right behind the team; there has been a few discussions amongst the committee that we-ll look to organise buses from our ground so that we can go out there all together and support the Wanderers.

“We-d love to continue to build the relationship with the Wanderers and have regular visits from the Wanderers guys which will help the younger players at our club.”

“Both Aaron and Labinot were great ambassadors for the Wanderers and handled themselves exceptionally.”

Wanderers FC midfielder Mooy said he enjoyed the chance to meet some young players and see how much support there is already for the Hyundai A-League newest club.

““It was a great day to be a part of,” Mooy said. “Parklea is a big club and there were plenty of youngsters there keen to learn.

“From my perspective it is something that I-m keen to do, as when I was young we didn-t get many opportunities to see the bigger name players come from the main competition, so it-s something I want to continue to do.

“There were plenty of enthusiastic kids out there that were looking forward to seeing us in the Hyundai A-League competition. There were a lot of kids yelling out ‘Go Wanderers!’”
