Ralston signs for Wanderers

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the signing of defender Liz Ralston for the upcoming Liberty A-League season.

The veteran defender has made the switch from the club’s cross-city rivals where she has played since 2012.

Ralston has made over 80 appearances and has won the competition twice, as well as been the runner-up four times.

Head coach Catherine Cannuli spoke highly of Ralston’s experience in the squad this season.

“We are very excited to have Liz in the Red & Black this season,” said Cannuli.

“Liz brings an enormous amount of experience to the squad and an unrivaled understanding of the domestic football landscape having made her debut in the competition as a 17-year-old ten years ago.

“Liz is a veteran of the game and we are excited to see her play an instrumental role in also helping guide the next generation of Wander Women.”

Ralston said she was excited to represent her hometown club this season.

“It’s really great to be here, I’m a Western Sydney girl and it feels like home already so I’m really excited to be part of the squad this year,” said Ralston.

“The squad is amazing and I think that this year is really exciting because we can all feel that there is something really special here. From the coaching staff right through to the players, it is the most passionate professional groups I have played with.

“I think everyone is really excited to get out there and put together all of the things we have been working really hard with at training over the last seven weeks. So everyone is really excited to go out there and come away with a result.”
