Fullback Shannon Cols said his side proved there was a great amount of depth at the club despite sharing the spoils after taking the lead.

“It-s always a tough trip over there but I thought the boys that came in worked very well especially the ones that haven-t had a lot of minutes lately.”

Like Cole, coach Tony Popovic was very proud of the players who stood in last night.

“All 21 players are part of the squad and we have always maintained that there are no favourites here,” Popovic said.

“We are one unit and we have one goal and that is to be as consistent as we can be with our performances.”

Cole credits a set style and tactical framework employed by Popovic and the coaching staff to the team-s success.

“I-m not surprised by our position on the ladder at the moment,” the defender said.

“We-ve set ourselves some high standards at the beginning of the season and we-re going out to make sure we achieve them.”

The coach said the team faced a tough period ahead with big matches at home against Melbourne Victory on January 1 and Central Coast Mariners on January 6.

“We are in a tough period now and we are very focused on our upcoming matches,” he said.

“We have three games in ten days and we can-t really afford to look too far ahead.

“We will see who is fit who is available and who has recovered from this game for the next two very tough games.

“I know the players are looking forward to playing in front of the Wanderers fans against very good opposition.”

The Wanderers- next home game is against Melbourne Victory FC at 6.15pm on January 1 at Parramatta Stadium.

Kids will be allowed in for free for all Wanderers games in January.
