Wanderers welcome home treble winner Miguel Di Pizio

Western Sydney Wanderers FC are delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Miguel Di Pizio on a two-year deal, with the talented Western Sydney product returning to the club where his football journey began.

A graduate of the Wanderers Academy, Di Pizio returns to the Red & Black after establishing himself as one of the A-Leagues most promising young talents during his time with the Central Coast Mariners.

The 20-year-old played a key role in one of the most successful periods in Mariners history, helping the club secure the A-League Men Championship, A-League Men Premiers Plate and AFC Cup during the 2023/24 campaign. In doing so, he etched his name into the history books as the youngest goalscorer in A-League Grand Final history.

Since making his professional debut, Di Pizio has accumulated 51 A-League appearances and five goals, while also earning youth international honours with Australia, including representing the Joeys at the AFC U-17 Asian Cup in 2023.

Di Pizio said returning to Western Sydney was a special moment for both himself and his family.

“I feel really blessed and lucky to have the opportunity to come back and play for my hometown club,” said Di Pizio.

“To come back as a first-team player is a real blessing. My time here in the Academy was filled with great coaches and great people, and I made a lot of lifelong friends along the way.

“Members and fans can expect creativity in the front third, plenty of link-up play and hopefully some goals and assists as well.

“I’m looking forward to making my mark at this club. I’m honoured to wear this jersey and grateful for the opportunity. I can’t wait to get started.”

Western Sydney Wanderers Football Director Mal Impiombato said Di Pizio’s return was an exciting moment for the club and a statement of the clear intent to instil a winning culture and mentality by bringing in players whom have experienced success, whilst providing opportunities for exciting young talent.

“Miguel is a player we know extremely well. He came through our Academy system and has gone on to prove himself at the highest level of Australian football,” said Impiombato.

“Bringing him back to Western Sydney is something we’re genuinely proud of. He has already achieved a lot in his young career, winning major trophies, gaining valuable A-League experience and representing his country. All of these attributes combined determined why Miguel was a key target for our Club.

“At just 20 years of age, we believe there is still enormous potential in Miguel’s game. He’s ambitious, hardworking and hungry to continue developing, and we believe Western Sydney is the perfect environment for him to take the next step in his career.”
