Another week, another clash between two promotion hopefuls, as the Western Sydney Wanderers FNSW League One side will face off against Bonnyrigg White Eagles on Saturday night at Wanderers Football Park.
With both sides winless in the past two weeks, they will be keen to get back on track and keep up with the sides above them in the promotion places.
The Wanderers were involved in a 4-3 thriller on the Central Coast last round; though they were on the wrong side of the scoreline, they fought valiantly without some of their most important players, and the likes of Alex Badolato and Dean Pelekanos were impressive once again.
The loss leaves the boys in Red & Black in 5th place, and head coach Tomi Vidovic will be desperate for his team to return to the winner’s circle.
Their opponents meanwhile have had a somewhat inconsistent start to the season.
With two wins, two losses and two draws – the second of which came last week against St George FC – the Eagles have also been goal shy, only netting eight times so far this season.
Striker Aaron Peterson has scored four of those goals, including an equaliser last week, whilst Marie Gauthier has also chipped in with two goals.
The likes of Mark Natta and Nectar Triantis will have to ensure that the pair are kept quiet to increase the side’s chance of victory.
The Wanderers will also be hoping that star striker Jordan Swibel will be back in action this week, with their top scorer being absent for the past two matches.
These Western Sydney sides only met once last season, with the Wanderers coming out on top with a 3-2 home victory.
With the two sides only separated by a place on the table, we can expect a similarly tight clash under the lights on Saturday night.
